Vegetable oil
1/3 cup uncooked popcorn
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons roasted peanut oil
Kosher or sea salt
½ cup uncooked peanuts

In a large pot, put 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and some popcorn kernels to test. Put on medium-high heat to pop the kernels, and add the rest of the kernels in a single layer. Cover, cook and shake the pot, waiting until pops are several seconds apart. Put a thin layer of vegetable oil on a baking sheet and then put the popped corn in a bowl.

Clean out the pot and add the dark corn syrup, molasses, peanut oil, ¼ teaspoon salt, peanuts and sugar. On medium-high heat, stir for about 7 minutes. Check with a candy thermometer for a temperature of 290 degrees. Remove from heat and mix in the popcorn until it’s covered. Put mixture on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break apart into bite-sized pieces.
