Michelle Obama’s 'Becoming' Could Be the Best-Selling Memoir Ever

Former First Lady Michelle Obama released her memoir in November 2018, and it could be on pace to break a major record!

“Becoming” has reportedly sold almost 10 million copies, potentially making it one of the most successful autobiographies in history.

"We believe this could become the most successful memoir ever,” Thomas Rabe, the CEO of Bertelsmann, Penguin Random House’s parent company, stated in a press conference on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg.

“Becoming” was already named the best-selling book of 2018, as Fortune reported in November.

Michelle’s memoir chronicles her journey from childhood to the White House and she spoke with Oprah last year about why she decided to title it “Becoming.”

She explained, “Becoming just summed it all up. A question that adults ask kids—I think it’s the worst question in the world—is ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ As if growing up is finite. As if you become something and that is all there is.”

One special person who’s clearly a fan of Michelle’s memoir? Her hubby, Barack Obama! The former President took to social media in December to reveal his favorite movies, music and books of 2018 and, as expected, “Becoming” made his list!
