Celebrities Mourn Nipsey Hussle, Pay Tribute to the Late Rapper

The hip-hop community was rocked Sunday evening after news broke that rapper, entrepreneur and community activist Nipsey Hussle was killed. The 33-year-old was fatally shot outside his Marathon Clothing Store in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Crisis Response Team tweeted Sunday, “Today we lost a great musician, Nipsey Hussle. Our Mayor’s Crises Response Team has responded to this tragedy. We are now consoling and offering support to the family. Our prayers are with them and all those who knew and loved Nipsey Hussle.”

Since the announcement, an outpouring of support, love and affection has come through from celebrities. Tributes have been all over social media from artists like Rihanna, to athletes including LeBron James, all honoring Nipsey Hussle’s musical legacy and advocacy efforts.

Rihanna shared, “This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this! Dear God may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones! I’m so sorry this happened to you.”

The Los Angeles Lakers also grieved the loss on Twitter:

“prayers go out to Nipsey man,” Khalid tweeted.

Meek Mill wrote, “Broke me.... we really fighting for our lives against our own kind and really have to take risk and match the level of hatred that we are born in .. I’m tired prayers for my brother and his family.”

John Legend conveyed his shock, sharing that he just recently spent time with the late rapper filming a video for a new song.

Kehlani wrote, “heartbroken and speechless god bless your beautiful family just spoke about working...

a community legend. a humble king... forreal. ah this don’t feel real. wow.”

Issa Rae wrote, “Watching Nipsey inspired me to invest and own in our communities. He was a solid man who loved his woman, his family and his community. This hurts.”

LeBron James expressed his sadness through a heartfelt tweet.

Nick Cannon remembered Nipsey with an Instagram post. “Your message is my message!” a portion of his caption read.

Hussle is survived by longtime girlfriend Lauren London and his two children. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nipsey Hussle’s loved ones.
