Justin Bieber Apologizes for His April Fools' Day Prank

April Fools' Day pranks are usually intended to be harmless fun, but Justin Bieber’s latest online practical joke didn’t leave everyone laughing.

The singer took to Instagram on April 1 to make an “announcement,” sharing a sonogram, implying that he and wife Hailey were expecting their first child.

Justin didn’t stop there. He followed up the pic with a photo of Hailey holding her bare belly in what appeared to be a doctor’s office, with the caption, “If U thought it was April fools.” Naturally, followers were skeptical, considering the date. Well, Justin finally debunked his big reveal with another sonogram shot, this time featuring a dog instead of a baby. “Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS.”

The faked pregnancy isn’t exactly a new concept, but the hoax ended up causing backlash from those who felt joking about the topic was insensitive, considering how many people suffer with fertility issues.

Justin took to Instagram yet again on Tuesday morning to address the controversy and apologize to anyone who was hurt by the prank.

A portion of Justin’s caption read, “There’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction. But I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended.”

I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried. You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice. #prankster #dennisthemenace #sorry #truly
