Kim Kardashian West, Esq.? Kim graces the cover Vogue's May issue, and her interview reveals she’s taking strides to make some major career changes — and her next move might not be what you'd expect.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star is planning to become a lawyer by working on a four-year apprenticeship at a San Francisco law firm!
Kim can already call herself a reality TV sensation, beauty mogul, and one of the world’s most recognizable faces, but it appears her aspirations include adding the title of attorney to her list of professional achievements.
Following her work with prison reform and assisting in the release of Alice Marie Johnson, Kim says she felt motivated to continue her mission.
“I had to think long and hard about this,” Kim told Vogue. She went on to explain that when The White House called her to advise on changing the clemency system, she realized she had to keep learning in order to make real change. “I need to know more. I would say what I had to say, about the human side and why this is so unfair. But I had attorneys with me who could back that up with all the facts of the case. It’s never one person who gets things done; it’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”
Kim is planning to take the California “baby bar” this summer, and pending her passing, she’ll be permitted study for three more years. Vogue further details the process, reporting that 18 hours of supervised study is required every week. If all goes according to plan, Kim will take the bar exam in 2022.
In case you were wondering… no, Kim doesn’t have a college degree, but California is one of the few states that permits lawyers to pass the bar exam through the “reading the law” process, so no degree is required.
