Halle Berry is a household name with an undeniably impressive resume that includes blockbuster films and an Oscar, but at one point back in the day she passed on a now-iconic role.
The actress recently revealed to "Entertainment Tonight" that she turned down a famous part in 1994 that ultimately went to Sandra Bullock.
Yes, Berry was offered the lead in “Speed” before Sandra swooped it up, and she she admits she “stupidly said no.” “But in my defense, when I read the script, the bus didn't leave the parking lot,” she added.
You may recall the action classic “Speed” is about a bomb that will explode based on an L.A. bus’ speed.
"I was like no, no, no, no. Then I see the movie and I'm like, arrrrghh. She went on to explain that she nixed the career move prior to Keanu Reeves — now her co-star in John Wick 3 — signing on, and the script’s revisions. "They were offering me the parking lot version,” Berry explained.
Funnily enough, Sandra Bullock has her own tale of not taking on a Keanu Reeves favorite. It was recently revealed that she was offered the lead in "The Matrix"!
It’s all good, though. Both Sandy and Halle’s acting careers have been going strong for over three decades, and they’ve both won Academy Awards, massive critical acclaim, and popularity.
Real fam, did you ever say no to a job and now regret it?
