Emilia Clarke wanted one person’s stamp of approval on the final season of “Game of Thrones," and that somebody just happens to be none other than… Beyoncé!
The woman behind Khaleesi was hoping Queen Bey’s support for her character wouldn’t waver after events that unfolded in the show’s last few episodes.
According to Emilia’s interview with the New Yorker, Beyoncé is a Daenerys Targaryen devotee. The superstar singer even approached Emilia at an Oscar after-party to express her fandom.
Emilia recalled, "I see this vision, this angel, this incredible woman float towards me. I can’t quite control myself. And Beyoncé says to me, ‘Oh, my goodness, it’s so wonderful to meet you. I think you’re brilliant.'”
Emilia went on to say that her inner monologue appropriately freaked out since she was speaking to, well, Beyoncé and “on the verge of tears.” She felt like Bey might realize what a “crazed fan” she is.
Plus, Emilia was concerned about Daenerys’ yet-to-be-revealed dangerous dark side. “I said, ‘I’ve seen you live in concert, and I think you’re amazing and wonderful! Wonderful!’ And all I wanted to scream was ‘Please, please still like me even though my character turns into a mass-killing dictator! Please still think that I’m representing women in a really fabulous way.’”
Emilia added that she dreaded Beyoncé’s potential change of heart. “I was just, like, 'Oh, my God, my absolute idol in life is saying that she likes me,' and I know for a fact that by the end of this season she’s going to hate me.”
Emilia’s brush with Bey isn’t the first time Mrs. Carter’s love of “GoT” was revealed. Emilia said in a 2015 interview with “Harper’s Bazaar” that Jay Z may have bought a dragon’s egg for his wife.
The jury’s still out on Beyoncé’s verdict on what went down during the “Game of Thrones" swan song, but hopefully she was satisfied!
