Michelle and Barack Obama are embarking on a new career path. The former President and First Lady just signed with Spotify to produce podcasts that will be released exclusively on the streaming platform.
The multi-year partnership is with the Obamas' Higher Ground production company, and they're set to “develop, produce, and lend their voices to select podcasts, connecting them to listeners around the world on wide-ranging topics.”
Michelle Obama said in Spotify’s release, “Our hope is that through compelling, inspirational storytelling, Higher Ground Audio will not only produce engaging podcasts, but help people connect emotionally and open up their minds – and their hearts.”
Higher Ground continues to contribute to the entertainment landscape – last year they inked a deal with Netflix that will include a film about Frederick Douglass, a family show about food, documentaries, and a drama “set in the world of fashion in post-WWII.”
Mr. Obama said of the slate of projects his production company is working on, "Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights, and much more, we believe each of these productions won't just entertain, but will educate, connect, and inspire us all."
