Britney Spears Has a “Conspiracy Theory” About the Paparazzi

Britney Spears is voicing her suspicions over images she alleges are being altered by the paparazzi, and she wants fans to know her thoughts.

The pop star took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to address her followers with a message about recent paparazzi photos of her while on a Miami getaway.

"Hello, and please don't judge me, I look haggard right now," Britney said. “But my question to all of you is, fans in our world today, they always are subject to really criticize people and say that the pictures and videos that they’re posting are either not on time or they’re fake. But no one ever really asks, ‘Are the paparazzi pictures fake, and do the paparazzi people do stuff to the pictures and is the news really real? It’s a conspiracy theory that I’m actually interested in. Yesterday I went swimming. I look like I’m 40 pounds bigger [in the photos] than I am today. This is how I am right now, and I’m skinny as a needle. You tell me, what is real?”

Britney continued to dive into the idea on Monday, posting another video with the caption, “People always say people or celebrities cheat with their images, but never do they question the paparazzi for selling your pic that they have messed with !!!! This was all done within the same 17 hours !!!!”

Britney is seen wearing jeans and a belly-baring crop top, asking, “Good morning. So this is the day after me on my boat ride. Do I look any different today than yesterday?” The clip swipes to show a paparazzi photo in question from her Miami boat ride, with another swipe revealing her twirling in the present-day moment.

MEGA, the photo agency behind the pics, commented on Britney’s accusation. “We think Britney looks great and it’s ludicrous to suggest the photos or video were altered in any way,” a rep told Page Six, adding that they “shot thousands of photos of her over the weekend and are very happy to let her see the original files if she so wishes. It was good to see her happy and having fun and we wish her well.”

Britney defended her own Instagram videos and photos last month, assuring fans that she posts her own social media content. Referring to a clip of her dancing on a balcony in three different looks, she told her followers, “For those of you who don’t think I post my own videos, I did this video yesterday. So you’re wrong, but I hope you like it.”
