Taylor Swift’s new video for her latest single “You Need to Calm Down” is a veritable who’s-who of talent. Tay recruited a a slew of A-listers for the colorful clip, including Ryan Reynolds, Laverne Cox, Ciara, and Ellen DeGeneres.
“You Need to Calm Down” is the second single off of Swift’s upcoming seventh studio album “Lover.” The song seems to serve as a Pride anthem supporting the LGBTQ community, as well as a strong message to negative haters, both online and off.
Taylor spoke to Apple Music’s Beats 1 of the inspiration for the song, saying, “I've observed a lot of different people in our society who just put so much energy and effort into negativity, and it just made me feel like, 'You need to just calm down. Like, you're stressing yourself out. This seems like it's more about you than what you're going off about. Like, just calm down.”

OKAY SO the YNTCD video is officially out!! First things first, I want to say that my co-stars in this video are AMAZING. Please celebrate this video by supporting their work, following them, and going to see them perform. I’m SO grateful to everyone who lent their time to this video and SO EXCITED I ACTUALLY DO NEED TO CALM DOWN. 🍹 #YNTCDmusicvideo
The song’s video, which takes place in a colorful trailer park wonderland, not only features cameos from industry heavy-hitters like Jesse Tyler Ferguson, RuPaul, Adam Lambert, Billy Porter, the cast of “Queer Eye,” Todrick Hall and Hannah Hart, it also puts a (delicious) end to Taylor’s public feud with fellow pop artist, Katy Perry. Katy is seen in a hamburger costume — like the one she wore to the Met Gala last month — while Taylor is dressed appropriately to compliment Katy’s meal. Yup, that’s her as the fries, completing the so-called “happy meal”!
