Ha! This Woman Wanted a Mariah Carey Cake… Here’s What She Got Instead!

Ever ask for something and get the wrong order? That's what happened to a woman celebrating her birthday in England, and the result — er, mistake? — turned out to be absolutely hilarious.
Harriet Alida Lye shared the now-viral misunderstanding on Twitter, revealing that her cousin Siobhan requested a Mariah Carey-themed birthday cake from her colleagues. Instead, she received a dessert adorned with a photo of Marie Curie! If you're not familiar with Marie Curie, she isn't a 5-time Grammy Award winner and pop superstar. Curie (not Carey) was a two-time Nobel Prize-winning scientist who discovered radium and polonium.
My cousin in England told her colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey birthday cake. They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead. It's Marie Curie, looking very festive. pic.twitter.com/LMHJnMATqD

Siobhan's reaction to the cake was absolutely priceless, and so was Mariah Carey's! The Elusive Chanteuse sent a personal Twitter greeting to birthday girl Siobhan that was pretty much perfect. Mariah joked, “This could've been me if only I hadn't failed remedial math. Happy birthday Siobhan!!”

According to the BBC, the mix-up was actually a “standing joke” between Siobhan and her colleagues at Essex charity Chronic Condition.
Siobhan explained, "The charity's treasurer has hearing issues and has trouble with my Canadian accent, so he kept asking why I'd make a Marie Curie cake.”
Her colleague Elizabeth Kaye “found the most somber picture of Marie Curie” and had it turned into icing. Elizabeth said, “I can't believe the worst, burnt cake I've ever baked has been seen by so many people — including Mariah Carey.”
Have you ever received or given a joke gift like this?
