Megan Thee Stallion Is Filing to Trademark ‘Hot Girl Summer’

Megan Thee Stallion is making the most of her “Hot Girl Summer,” because she’s planning to trademark the popular catchphrase. According to Billboard, a trademark for the viral saying was filed on July 10. Megan also confirmed the action on Twitter, telling a commenter, “it’s been in the process.”

Billboard also reports that the “trademark will cover merchandise specifically for products such as hoodies, T-shirts and sportswear, if approved.”

If you’re somehow not familiar with the “hot girl summer” meme, Houston’s Megan Thee Stallion is credited with starting the craze in her lyrics, and her social media handle is even “Hot Girl Meg.” She even clarified the meaning of embodying a “hot girl” attitude last week, tweeting, “Being a Hot Girl is about being unapologetically YOU, having fun, being confident, living YOUR truth, being the life of the party etc.”

She also told The Root, “It's about women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good-ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you.”

Hot Girl Summer has been trending all over social media, with famous faces like Jada Pinkett-Smith and Chloe x Halle exhibiting their own takes on the trend. Oh, and in case you’re wondering — Megan Thee Stallion is prepping to launch a “Hot Girl Summer” track before the season comes to a close.
