It looks like Normani isn’t here for the Beyoncé comparisons! When the singer caught wind of a comment about her Lollapalooza set that mentioned Queen B, she matter-of-factly shut the criticism down.
“Every time I see Normani perform I feel like she hasn’t graduated Beyoncé school yet,” the New York Times’ Sandra E. Garcia tweeted, remarking on a video of Normani mid-performance.
then don’t watch

Normani’s retort? The former Fifth Harmony member simply wrote, “then don’t watch.”
Normani has addressed the Beyoncé comparisons in the past, telling Fader in 2018, “It’s flattering but I definitely have room to grow and improve. I want to work for my spot. It’s not fair that I’m the next Beyoncé just yet. But I hope to become that.”
I am NORMANI. I was born NORMANI. I will die NORMANI. PERIOD *in my city girls voice*

Beyoncé appears to be a fan of Normani and the two artists met last year. According to Normani, she and Bey had a casual convo despite some fangirling over the occasion on her end. Normani recalled, “I was like ever since I was a little girl, I've looked up to you. Especially me being an African American female in the entertainment industry. You make me feel like I can do absolutely anything and she was like 'I'm so proud of you, I'm so proud of you.’”
