Liam Hemsworth Files for Divorce from Miley Cyrus

If you were holding out hope for a relationship reconciliation between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, it’s looking less likely. According to documents obtained by People, Hemsworth filed for divorce on Wednesday in Los Angeles after almost eight months of marriage. TMZ reports the legal docs cite “irreconcilable differences” as the cause.

Hemsworth and Cyrus revealed they were splitting up on August 10.

Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” Cyrus’ rep told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

The A-list pair have been together since 2009. They broke up in 2013 after getting engaged, and then reunited romantically 2015. They tied the knot in December of 2018 at their Franklin, Tennessee, house.

Following news of the split, Cyrus actively posted on social media from her European getaway. She was spotted making out with Kaitlynn Carter (Brody Jenner’s ex) on the vacation, which sparked speculation that the duo are dating. The singer also released a new track last week, “Slide Away,” which seems to reference the breakup in its lyrics.

Hemsworth also took to Instagram post-split, addressing the separation in a post that wished Cyrus happiness. The post read, “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”
