It’s time to cut the “scandal chasing!” Jamie Foxx is setting the record straight about his personal life. The actor, musician, and producer took speculation into his own hands after being spotted with singer Sela Vave following his reported split with Katie Holmes.
Foxx took to Instagram Live to speak his truth Wednesday, maintaining that his relationship with Sela is professional, as he’s been mentoring her with her burgeoning career.
Sela shared the clip to her own Instagram with the caption, “For the people who care... here is the TRUE story(swipe)... for everyone else you can keep talking and calling me a whore, slut, home wrecker, thot, gold digger, that I should die, and what ever else you want. Because it doesn’t matter to me, I’m out here to work and do what I love most. #music#killthedoublestandard.” [https://www.instagram.com/p/B1byWgUhMdk/]
Foxx explained how entertainers like Ed Sheeran, Ne-Yo and Nick Cannon stayed with him when they were starting out, and then discussed Sela’s involvement, clarifying, “There is a young lady by the name of Sela Vave. I did the same thing with her.”
The 51-year-old commended Vave’s impressive musical skills and noted, “If you do your background history as opposed to scandal chasing, we went to Power 106 and I introduced her as my new artist, whole squad, whole label. So now, the situation that happened in the press where I’m escorting her to my car, to put her in the car, my artist, who hangs out with my kids, who’s as young as my daughter… ”
Foxx also defended Vave and women in the industry by saying, “People try to make mountains out of molehills. What I wanted to say was, we wanted to treat her the same way and give her the opportunities. So, some of the haters and everything… I told her it’s going to be this way. It’s a double standard when it comes to women."
Foxx concluded the video by calling Sela his “family” and a “beautiful singer,” and stressed that “we don’t ever cross the lines like that personally.”
There you have it, folks!
