Iconic game show host Alex Trebek revealed his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis back in March, and now the 79-year-old has a positive update about his treatment. Trebek is officially back to work for the 36th season of “Jeopardy!” and his chemotherapy treatments are done!
“I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully that is now over,” Trebek declares in a new video offering up a sneak peek at the show’s upcoming season. “I’m on the mend, and that’s all I can hope for right now.”
Trebek jokes with the live studio audience in the clip, revealing who he would want to play him in a biopic about his life. His choice? Betty White!
The longtime “Jeopardy!” host opened up about his cancer in a video announcement this past spring, saying, “I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
He remarked, “Truth told, I have to, because under the terms of my contract, I have to host ‘Jeopardy!’ for three more years. So help me. Keep the faith, and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.”
