Jennifer Lopez is set to say “I do” to fiancé Alex Rodriguez sometime soon — she hinted at “next year” in June — and now she’s opening up about why the impending nuptials are significant to her and her man.
According to J.Lo, she and A-Rod value matrimony and the idea of going through life with a partner.
“[Marriage is] important for both of us,” Lopez told ES Magazine. “We both come from traditional Latin families and we want that.”
She went on to note, “Everyone wants somebody to grow old with. At the end of the day, how much work can you do, how much money can you make, and what does it all matter? It doesn’t, really.”
Jennifer has been married three times prior to her engagement to Rodriguez. Speaking in a behind-the-scenes video about her It’s My Party tour, she discussed previous relationships and why she doesn’t “count” past marriages.
The singer, dancer, and actress pointed out, “I’ve been married three times, and once was nine months and once was 11 months, so I don’t really count those, but I was married to Marc for 10 years, with the kids. I was very young the first two times I tried to get married — I’m saying ‘tried’ to get married.”
