Prince Harry May Have Broken Royal Tradition… By Doing This?

Um, is closing your own car door against royal rules? Prince Harry appears to be following in wife Meghan Markle’s footsteps, as the Duke of Sussex was spotted shutting a car door all by himself — a move he’s apparently not supposed to make on his own. Of course, eagle-eyed fans took notice.

Prince Harry was attending the fifth anniversary of the Invictus Games when he was spotted closing the door, a gesture usually handled by a staff member. Meghan took the car door matter into her own hands last year when she stepped out at the Royal Academy of the Arts, which also caught the attention of the world. A car door? Really?!

According to etiquette expert William Hanson, the car door move isn’t exactly a protocol offense.

He explained to Radio 1 Newsbeat last year, “Usually, if you are a member of the royal family or a dignitary, you have a member of staff to open and close a car door for you.”

He also clarified that it’s more for security purposes.

Either way, the abundance of royal rules and regulations seem nearly impossible to keep track of!
