Before she was the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle blogged about everything from meditation to travel tips to restaurants on her lifestyle site, The Tig. The blog no longer exists, but when it was reported that documents were filed to renew the blog’s name until 2021, it sparked speculation about a potential resurgence.
The Tig (named for her favorite kind of wine, Tignanello) began in 2014 and shut down in 2017, and it turns out it probably won’t see the updated light of the day on the Internet any time soon. People reports that a palace spokesperson said there are “absolutely no plans to relaunch The Tig.” The spokesperson explained, “The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her.”
Well, we can’t say we’re surprised! The now-Duchess of Sussex is kept busy these days with her royal duties and charitable endeavors, as well as her 4-month-old son, Archie.
“What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy,” Meghan wrote in 2017 when she closed the door on The Tig. “Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’”
