Ben Affleck Admits 'Slip' After Sobriety Setback

Ben Affleck is keeping his head up amid his sobriety struggles.

On Sunday, published a video, shot outside of ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s Pacific Palisades house, in which the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor admitted to photographers that he had had a “slip” in his battle with alcohol abuse.

The “Argo” director — wearing a light gray sweater, jeans, and sneakers — said, “Well, you know, it happens. It's a slip, but I'm not going to let it derail me.”

Over the weekend, TMZ posted a clip of the Oscar winner outside of the Kimpton La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood, writing that Affleck “seemed to have fallen off the wagon.” The 47-year-old – who was attending the UNICEF Masquerade Ball wearing a skeleton mask — was seen on video steadying himself against a parked SUV.

In October 2018, Affleck wrote on social media he had “completed a forty day stay at a treatment center for alcohol addiction and remain in outpatient care.”

He continued, “Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family. So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn’t think was possible. It helps to know I am not alone.”

Affleck previously checked into treatment in 2001, and again in 2017.

Affleck and Garner — who finalized their divorce in 2018 — have three children: daughters Violet, 13, and Seraphina, 10, and son Samuel, 7.
