‘RHOA’ Star Kandi Burruss Reveals Surrogate Lost Embryo

Kandi Burruss detailed the ups and downs of pregnancy on the latest episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

On Sunday, during the Season 12 premiere, the Bravo star revealed the surrogate she and husband, Todd Tucker, used was initially pregnant with twins. Sadly, one of the embryos did not make it.

“We actually were supposed to be having twins, and then one of them didn’t continue,” the Grammy winner said.

Despite the tragedy, the Xscape group member is thankful for her soon-to-be-born baby girl — due this month.

“I was sad at first, but then I just had to be grateful that the one made it,” she explained.

The couple welcomed son Ace in 2016. From past relationships, Todd has 22-year-old daughter Kaela, while Kandi has 16-year-old daughter Riley.

In the episode, the musician opened up about the complicated process of using a gestational carrier.

“To allow somebody to carry my child inside of them? It was a tough decision to make,” the songwriter remarked.

“I just feel like this whole situation is strange,” she added. “I don’t get to be excited about the first kick. I don’t get to be excited about, ‘Oh, now my baby bump is showing.’ I don’t get to be excited even about my boobs filling up with milk.”

Burruss and Tucker’s 2014 nuptials were documented in the “RHOA” spin-off “Kandi’s Wedding.”
