Eva Marcille speaks out on Kevin McCall — her ex-boyfriend, and the biological father of her 5-year-old daughter, Marley Rae.
According to TMZ, the rapper was arrested after getting into a tussle with cops at a courthouse, where he was supposed to attend a custody hearing regarding his child with “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star.
On Wednesday’s live episode of “The Real,” the “America’s Next Top Model” winner explained her ex’s “crazy” legal drama to hosts Tamera Mowry-Housley, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love and Jeannie Mai.
“So, this is what’s so crazy about it, because he was arrested going into court for a case he filed against me. So, more recently he drew suit against me for child support, which is amazing ’cause he’s never given a cent and I’ve raised our child, “ she explained. “I recently changed my daughter’s name from his last name to our family name, which is Sterling, and he now wants to reverse that change. So, we were actually going to court."
She continued, “My husband is an attorney — Michael Sterling — and he was going to court on my behalf, and I guess while [McCall] was going into court he got into a fight with security because he’s crazy, like I’ve told the world a million times, and got arrested, and apparently has some cases that were pending already. He’s on probation for domestic violence against someone else, and so that case is in a few months, and now he’s being detained for something else.”
When asked how she is doing, Eva says she is “good” — crediting her husband and job at “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” for helping her “keep it together.”
“The people that I work with are great, and I think that kind of helps me through my day,” she explained. “’Cause the inevitable is going to happen. He’s gonna get arrested, he’s gonna be crazy, and it’s gonna start drama in my life. But the way I kind of get through that is I just latch onto those that love on me.”
When asked if Marley understands that her stepfather is not her biological dad, Marcille said the family hasn’t really “gotten to the place where we explain things yet.”
“She still believes in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and things like that. She doesn’t know that her dad is a dad by choice, by God, Michael, and not her biological father. I don’t think she understands that now,” she dished. “The truth is my job as a mom and as a parent is to protect my daughter, and I’m going to protect her at all cost, and no matter what it takes. So, if that means shielding her from the truth, I’m going to do that until her innocence is no longer.”
At the end of the day, Marley’s birth taught Eva “the reason for living.”
“All that it took to get her, and to have her, I’d do it all over again.”
