Lena Waithe & Alana Mayo Secretly Got Married!

Congratulations are in order for Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo!

On Friday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the “Master of None” actress told guest host John Legend she secretly got married!

“We snuck and did it,” the 35-year-old said while showing off her wedding ring on her left hand. “You know, we didn’t make any announcements.”

According to the Emmy winner, the two got hitched at a San Francisco courthouse “right in front of” a statue of Harvey Milk — the first openly gay elected official in California history.

“It was her idea, like all good things are,” the screenwriter exclaimed. “She was just driving and she saw the courthouse and she said, ‘We should get married there.’ And I said, ‘Cool, I’m down.’”

“The Chi” creator also gave a nod to the LGBT pioneers before her who have ardently advocated for same-sex marriage.

“It really was a humbling day to marry someone so amazing but also to really appreciate all the work that so many people have put in for us to be able to do that,” she exclaimed. “Everybody should be able to do that.”

Waithe proposed to Mayo on Thanksgiving Day 2017 during a trip to Tokyo.

“The funny thing is, it was actually super chill ’cause even though I am very over the top, my lovely lady is the opposite, which is good because I’m very much in front of the scenes and she’s very much behind them,” Lena told the “Homophilia” podcast. “It was just, like, in the morning, in the bed, no strings, but, you know, it was super low-key.”

While appearing on a February 2019 episode of “The Real,” Lena opened up about wanting to have an informal ceremony.

“For a lot of people, a wedding is, like, it’s their day. It’s like their one chance to shine and be a star, and it’s fantastic. For us, when we go to premieres and whatnot, that’s like every other week. It becomes a chore almost to get up, get dressed, walk down the aisle, the carpet,” she dished. “For us, we really kind of wanted to not have that day be produced, and not be doing a whole big thing. And also, my fiancée’s a little more behind the scenes and subtle, so we just want to do a really intimate-like thing, just she and I.”

Love wins, y’all!
