What would you do if someone said “I love you” and you didn’t feel the same way?
On Sunday’s episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Khloé Kardashian Facetimed ex Tristan Thompson and their daughter, True Thompson, from Connecticut. However, things got awkward when the basketball player said “I love you” to the “Revenge Body” host while ending their call.
In response, Khloé simply said back, “Thank you.”
When questioned by best friend Malika Haqq, Kardashian explained, “I don't know what to say.”
On Monday’s live episode of “The Real,” hosts Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jeannie Mai, Loni Love, and Adrienne Houghton — along with guest co-host Rachel Lindsay from “The Bachelorette” — discussed the cringeworthy moment.
Right off the bat, Mai didn’t see any error on Khloé’s part.
“I don’t see the problem,” Jeannie exclaimed. “If you don’t love them back, what are you supposed to say?... You’re lucky you got a ‘thank you.’”
On the contrary, Lindsay commented, “I think ‘thank you’ is kind of rude to say.”
In fact, if a “Bachelorette” contestant told her “I love you,” and she didn’t reciprocate those feelings, Rachel would simply give them a polite huge.
However, if Lindsay was in Kardashian’s shoes, she would tell Tristan, “True loves you, too.”
On a serious note, Love gave props to Khloé for staying strong amid her relationship drama.
“I do want to commend Khloé because I know the issues that she’s had with her baby’s daddy, and I think it’s good for her to not lead him on,” she commented.
Loni added, “If you love me, you wouldn’t have cheated on me.”
Kardashian and Thompson ended their relationship in February after he was accused of having an affair with Jordyn Woods.
