‘The Real’ Reacts to Jillian Michaels’ Comments on Lizzo’s Body

Jillian Michaels is in hot water over remarks she made about Lizzo.

Last week while appearing on Buzzfeed News’ morning show “AM2DM,” the personal trainer questioned why fans celebrate the singer’s figure, exclaiming, “Why are we celebrating her body? Why aren’t we celebrating her music? 'Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.”

On Monday’s live episode of “The Real,” hosts Jeannie Mai, Loni Love, Adrienne Houghton, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Amanda Seales gave their two cents on the controversial story.

“I think a lot of people are mad at Lizzo because they believe in order to be a successful singer, you have to look a certain type of way,” Love noted. “And she constantly disproves that you can look any type of way and you can still be successful.”

“And sexy,” Mai chimed in.

Amanda also mentioned that “people are upset about black women’s bodies all the time. All the time.”

“Lizzo never really said, ‘Accept me being fat.’… She says, ‘Accept yourself for who you are,'" Loni added. “When you accept yourself for who you are, you’re going to look at yourself and go, ‘You know what? I need to improve.’”

Michaels, the former star of “The Biggest Loser," later issued a statement on Instagram, proclaiming, “We are all beautiful, worthy, and equally deserving." However, Michaels said “there are serious health consequences that come with obesity” – though she “would never wish these for ANYONE.”

On Friday, the “Juice” artist seemingly responded to the drama by posting a peaceful video from what appears to be her hotel balcony. She also shared her mantra from that day: “This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place. I deserve to be happy.”

She also later said on Instagram Story, "If my name is in your mouth, so is my -----, -----. Enjoy the flavor!"

Lizzo remains unbothered!
