
The world continues to mourn the death of 21-year-old rapper Lexii Alijai.
According to “E! News” on Monday, the musician — who passed away January 1, 2020 —died as a result of mixed fentanyl and ethanol toxicity.
Per Minnesota’s Hennepin County Medical Examiner office, the manner of death is accidental.
The hip-hop artist’s passing was confirmed by social media users who identified themselves as Alijai’s relatives.
A woman who said she was Lexii’s cousin wrote on Facebook, “Your a real Legend🎼 if you know her or heard her music you’d feel chills😔. Rest in paradise you’ll never be forgotten!👼🏽 I’m so lost for words...my beautiful cousin with so much talent & Unique soul Lexii Alijai It’s too soon.”
Another woman who said she was Alijai’s family member added, “They say don’t question God, but damn why you baby. This thing called life is crazy as hell. My heart is broken 💔 the tears won’t stop. I’m trynna hold it together... I love you more then you’ll ever know. I can’t focus, I can’t concentrate, I’m numb, I literally can not breath. Rest easy baby... 😘 You gained your beautiful wings... Lexii Alijai. Please keep our family in your prayers.”
Following the tragic news, Kehlani — who collaborated with Alijai on her track “Jealous” — penned an emotional tribute on Instagram.
“i’m so sick. i’m so angry. i’m confused and my heart is broken. i don’t know why this happened. i don’t know what you’ve ever done but be brilliant, kind, strong, gentle, compassionate,” the “Distraction” singer exclaimed.
Lexii released two albums in her career: “Joseph’s Coat” in 2015, and “Growing Pains” in 2017.
She will be missed.
