Ashley Graham and her husband of nine years, Justin Ervin, have a lot to be thankful for.
In a video posted Tuesday, the supermodel detailed her January 18 home birth, where she naturally delivered the couple’s first child, a baby boy named Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin.
“I have to say now, though, that I gave birth and I did it naturally and I felt everything, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do,” the 32-year-old exclaimed in the “Pretty Big Deal” episode. “Like, there’s nothing that could come my way where I say, ‘Oh, that’s too hard. I can’t handle that.’ I went through laboring for six hours, naturally."
In fact, the runway star is relieved she gave birth at home as opposed to a hospital.
“If I would have had the birth at a hospital, I think my anxiety would have been through the roof,” she dished. “But because I was here, the lights were dim, it was a chill environment, I got to eat whatever food I wanted to, I got to be in bed, I could be in the pool."
However, Graham could not have done it without the support of her man.
While remembering the moment when Justin first laid eyes on their bundle of joy, Ashley recalled, “And seeing you with tears in your eyes saying, ‘I can see his head,’ gave me so much strength to just push him out and I really needed that. Literally, a moment later, we sat back. He was on my chest and he was looking you in the eyes… And I said to you, ‘We’re a family forever now.’”
Ervin also discussed the meaning of Isaac’s name, explaining, “So, everything in his name is pointing to legacy. Whether it’s, you know, Isaac with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Menelik, you know, the royal African roots.”
Justin also noted that “Giovanni” is an homage to both of their grandfathers being named John, as well as the church his family worshiped in.
In the touching clip, the couple also debut little Isaac to the world! Watch (below):
