Gareth Pursehouse has been charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Dr. Amie Harwick.
Per a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday, the Playa del Rey resident was arrested again after he was previously released for posting a $2 million bond.
After being re-arrested on a no-bail warrant, he was charged with murder and first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait.
On Saturday, authorities found Harwick, who was formerly engaged to Drew Carey, underneath the third-story balcony of her Hollywood Hills residence. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Days later, Los Angeles County coroner officials said the therapist passed away due to blunt-force injuries to her head and torso.
Pursehouse — who Harwick sought numerous restraining orders against — faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
His arraignment is scheduled for March 4.
Earlier this week, Carey issued a statement about his ex-fiancée’s death, calling her a “positive force in the world.”
“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime,” the host of “The Price Is Right” said. “She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”
