It’s safe to say the coronavirus is “not welcome anymore”!
This week, disco legend Gloria Gaynor released a TikTok video urging fans to wash their hands amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the clip, reposted on Instagram, the 76-year-old vocalist sings her iconic 1978 hit “I Will Survive” while cleaning her hands.
The singer added the caption, “It only takes 20 seconds to ‘SURVIVE’!”
Gaynor’s “20 seconds” advice is in line with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
While the U.S. federal agency suggests “[humming] the ‘Happy Birthday’ song from beginning to end twice,” — to make sure one adequately scrubs for the prescribed amount of time — one can also sing Gaynor’s chart-topping smash.
To protect oneself from the virus, the CDC also recommends avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
The national public health institute says individuals who are sick should stay home, wear a face mask, and cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
