Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have both tested positive for the coronavirus in Australia.
Wednesday on Instagram, the two-time Oscar winner revealed the news while sharing a photo of a latex glove on top of a trash bin lined with a biohazard waste bag.
“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” the beloved actor wrote.
Following their diagnosis, the couple — who tied the knot in 1988 —“will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”
“Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?” the 63-year-old screen legend added.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Hanks was Down Under gearing up to play Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann’s currently untitled Elvis Presley biopic.
In a statement, a Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed that preproduction on the movie has been halted after a "company member" tested positive for Covid-19 and “is currently receiving treatment.”
"We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world," the Warner Bros. representative added.
Despite the shocking news, two of Hanks’ sons, Chet and Colin, are optimistic about Tom and Rita’s recovery.
Wednesday on IG, 29-year-old Chet Hanks— a rapper who has also acted on shows such as “Empire” and “Shameless” — posted a video saying his dad and his mom are “not even that sick” and are “not trippin’” about their health.
Actor Colin Hanks, 42, posted a statement on his social media page, saying he is “confident” his father and stepmom “will make a full recovery.”
Hanks is also the father of Colin's sister Elizabeth Hanks, 37, with ex-wife Samantha Lewes, and Chet's brother, Truman Hanks, 24, with Wilson.
