Our fabulous co-host Jeannie Mai is getting married!
On Monday, People broke the news that Jeannie and her boyfriend Jeezy got engaged on March 27.
According to Jeannie’s rep, the rapper – born Jay Wayne Jenkins – was originally going to pop the question on their trip to Vietnam in April. Sadly, the vacation was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the musician then put together a romantic dinner at his Los Angeles pad where he asked Jeannie for her hand in marriage!
“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose,” her spokesperson told the publication. “Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietnam to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home, filled with Vietnamese food and décor.”
After meeting here on The Real in November 2018, Jeannie and her man made their red-carpet debut in August 2019 at the SnoBall Gala in support of his foundation, Street Dreamz.
For EXCLUSIVE details about Jeannie’s engagement, be sure to tune into an all-new episode of The Real on Monday, April 13!
In an interview with People last November, Jeannie opened up about her and Jeezy’s shared passion for philanthropy.
“We both went through enough in our life to connect on the understanding that love should feel safe, honest, and pure,” she exclaimed. “Immediately that was a magnetic attraction. We are very attracted to each other’s passions to serve. So because we have a mutual joy of having purpose, we’re going to find a way to do that together.”
Speaking of which, over the weekend on Instagram, Jeannie urged her Los Angeles followers to help the elderly – who may be affected by the pandemic – by donating groceries.
“If you are healthy, able, and looking for ways to give back, there are many seniors without family and in need of help with groceries,” she captioned a pic of her and Jeezy wearing face masks. “As the most vulnerable population in all of this, we wanted to help the elders living alone and unable to shop in risk of exposure.”
