Laura Prepon Explains Why She Hasn’t Revealed Her Newborn Son’s Name

Laura Prepon likes to keep parts of her private life private.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the “Orange Is the New Black” actress explained why she has yet to announce the name of her newborn son, who she and husband Ben Foster welcomed in February.

“We make all those decisions as a family, because we’re in the public eye,” the 40-year-old actress told the outlet. “So whenever we do something like that, we have a conversation about it first and make sure that we’re comfortable with it.”

The “That ’70s Show” alum has not been able to have this “conversation” with her family because the coronavirus pandemic “took over everyone’s lives.”

“Until we have a conversation, we know not to talk about it,” she said about not unveiling her second child’s moniker.

Though her lips are sealed, Prepon does think “it’s cute that people want to know his name.”

“It’s a constant negotiation, because we’re so fortunate to do what we love. But part of being in the public eye is how do you negotiate keeping your privacy, how do you negotiate keeping your personal life private?” she added.

Prepon and Foster — who made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the October 2016 New York premiere of “The Girl on the Train” — welcomed their first child, daughter Ella, in 2017. They tied the knot the following year.

Earlier this month, Prepon appeared here on The Real where she told Adrienne, Amanda, Jeannie, Loni, and Tamera how she explained to her daughter why they had to wear face masks while outside in New York.

“I just pretended it was a costume. She loves her costumes. She always wants to dress up. So, I was just like, ‘This is a new costume we’re wearing, and it’s very on trend right now,’” she dished to the ladies.
