Bazinga! Melissa Rauch is now a mother of two!
Monday on Instagram, the star of “The Big Bang Theory” announced the birth of her second child, a boy named Brooks, with husband Winston Rauch.
“I am incredibly thankful and overjoyed to announce the birth of our son, Brooks Rauch, who we just welcomed into the world and directly into our hearts,” the actress captioned a cute pic of a blue beanie featuring Brooks’s name.
Melissa and Winston also share daughter Sadie, who was born in 2017.
In her post, the 39-year-old gave a special shout-out to the health care employees who not only delivered her bundle of joy but are also working tirelessly amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“His arrival was made possible, in no small part, by the front line heroes - the nurses and doctors who show up each day to make sure that life keeps marching forward, regardless of the circumstances,” she wrote. “Words can’t describe how grateful I am to have this baby boy join our family, but to say that it is a surreal time to be bringing life into the world is an understatement.”

I am incredibly thankful and overjoyed to announce the birth of our son, Brooks Rauch, who we just welcomed into the world and directly into our hearts. His arrival was made possible, in no small part, by the front line heroes - the nurses and doctors who show up each day to make sure that life keeps marching forward, regardless of the circumstances. Words can't describe how grateful I am to have this baby boy join our family, but to say that it is a surreal time to be bringing life into the world is an understatement. Given that, I wanted to share some thoughts with other expectant mothers or “Pandemamamas” - as I like to call us - who are navigating these uncharted waters. Please go to the link in my bio to check out the essay I wrote on the subject for Glamour. As I've previously shared, I am no stranger to loss on the road to motherhood - so to those dealing with infertility or grieving a loss, please know you are in my heart and I’m sending you so much love. ♥️
In a candid essay for Glamour published Monday, Melissa revealed she gave birth to baby Brooks alone, without her husband by her side.
“Although the hospital I was delivering at did allow birth partners, my husband had to stay home with our daughter since our original plan of having family come to town — as well as our backup plans — were no longer options due to COVID-19,” she explained.
While she admits there were times during labor where she “craved the comfort of my husband being there with me physically,” Melissa knew she “had a job to do.”
“[Giving birth] is never going to take a backseat to anything. No matter what is going down, when one human is coming out of another human, it becomes the main focus — there’s no other choice. No pandemic, or fear of being alone, or anger over not having a partner there to bitch-slap through the whole hellish gauntlet of labor gets airtime,” she explained.
Though he was not there physically, Winston was able to watch his son’s birth through FaceTime.
Overall, Melissa wants her fellow “pandemamamas” to know: “You are not alone.”
“All of us ‘pandemamamas,’ as I like to call us, are in this together. Just as I reminded myself, you can do this, you will do this, and you will do so with the fierceness of all the powerful warrior women before you who have brought life — and hope — into this world during the most unfathomable of times,” she concluded. “As I look into my son’s eyes, I am filled with that hope.”
Congratulations to Melissa and Winston on their new addition!
