Nick Blixky, an up-and-coming rapper, is dead at the age of 21 following a shooting.
On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., the New York City Police Department responded to a call for an “unresponsive male” in front of 200 Winthrop Street in the 71st Precinct – they said in a statement.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the musician, born Nickalus Thompson, “with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and buttocks.” The MC was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As of Monday morning, the investigation into Blixky’s death is ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made.
After the tragic news broke, Nasir Fisher, a man identified by People as “Blixky’s brother,” paid tribute on Facebook.
“rest in peace to my brother nick blixk,” Nasir wrote. “watch over me brody.”
“like why they have to take u from us bro why u have to go,” Nasir added in a different post.
Additionally, a member of Blixky’s team shared a message with “E! News” demanding that “NY gang violence got to stop.”
“These young men killing each other is out of control. The worst part about it is they celebrate about it when it’s done. Like it’s a party. It’s so sad,” the statement read.
Hours before he was killed, Blixky posted a loving Mother’s Day message on his Instagram Story:
That same day, Blixky announced the release of his first ever mixtape, “Different Timin,” set to be released June 3.
Our condolences go out to his loved ones for their tragic loss.
