Usain Bolt and partner Kasi Bennett have become first-time parents!
On Monday, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that the sprinter and his longtime girlfriend have welcomed a baby girl.
The Olympic gold medalist’s agent later confirmed to CNN Sport that Bennett delivered the couple’s bundle of joy on Sunday.
The track and field superstar previously announced that his love was pregnant in January when he posted a photo of her showing off her baby bump in a gorgeous red dress.
“I just want to say a KING or QUEEN is about to be HERE. @kasi.b,” Bolt captioned the stunning photo shot by Lexon Photography.
Despite his athletic success, Bolt refuses to pressure his daughter, or any future child, to follow in his footsteps.
“People always say, ‘Are you going to put your kids in sports?’” Bolt told People this February during Super Bowl weekend. “But for me, if they want to be in sports, fine, I don’t really care. But I won’t push them to do track and field. I think it’s going to be hard.”
He added, “I think it’s the hardest thing when you have a dad that is a superstar in a super sport; I don’t think you should do that sport. I think you should do something else because there is so much pressure on you to live up to expectations.”
Bolt, who retired in 2017, holds the world record for the 100-meter dash, completing it in 9.58 seconds at the 2009 Berlin World Championships, and for the 200-meter dash, finishing it in 19.19 seconds, also in Berlin. Additionally, he is the only man to win three 100-meter Olympic titles.
Because of these accomplishments, many consider Bolt to be the fastest man in history.
Congratulations to Usain and Kasi on their new addition!
