Siliana Gaspard, the wife of deceased Shad Gaspard, pays tribute to her husband after he passed away at age 39 following a fatal swimming incident.
While sharing a photo of the former WWE wrestler Thursday on Instagram, Siliana describes the athlete as “our heart, our soul, our protector, our warrior” to her and their son, Aryeh, 10.
“Shad was our whole world and we were his. There are not enough words to describe what he means to all of us,” the trainer and nutritionist wrote. “He was our heart, our soul, our protector, our warrior. He was a bright force of nature, who brought joy to many through his joyous and gracious nature.”
The fitness model also thanked authorities and fans for their support throughout this heartbreaking ordeal.
“The outpouring of love from Shad’s friends, colleagues and fans has meant more to us than you can even imagine. We’d like to once again thank the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their efforts,” she said.
Siliana concluded, “Shad was and will always be our real life superhero. I love you more, my love.”
On Sunday near Venice Beach, Shad, Aryeh, and other swimmers were caught in a strong rip current caused by challenging weather conditions.
Witnesses told TMZ that Shad instructed lifeguards to rescue his son first, which they did. Unfortunately, Gaspard was then reportedly submerged by a wave that crashed down on him.
Early Wednesday, Gaspard’s body was discovered after it washed ashore near Venice Pier.
That day, fellow former WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson paid his respects to Gaspard on Instagram.
R.I.P. Shad. You will be missed.
