The 1-month-old daughter of Dan O’Toole has been found safe after the sports anchor previously suggested she went missing.
“UPDATE: My baby Oakland has been confirmed to be safe. I have still not seen her or held her,” the Canadian “SportsCentre” host wrote (and then deleted) on Instagram. “To those that decided to bash me during this ordeal, tell me this: have you ever looked in the eyes of your kids, and not been able to tell them where their sister is or when they will see her again? We are still broken. We may never be fixed again.”
The 44-year-old also wrote (and deleted) on Twitter that “police informed [him about his daughter’s whereabouts] at 12:07am.”
On Friday, “E! News” confirmed with Peterborough Police that O’Toole’s daughter had been found safe and was located with her biological mother, believed to be O’Toole’s ex-wife Corrie.
Authorities also confirmed that they were with the child and mother on Thursday night. There will be no investigation, as the case is closed.
Dave Selby from the Durham Regional Police also confirmed the positive news, and was quoted by The Toronto Sun saying, “We looked into it and determined the infant was with the mother. I can’t say much.”
O’Toole previously announced that baby Oakland had gone missing Thursday evening on Instagram.
While posting a black-and-white photo of the tot, he wrote, “My baby Oakland. I’m praying that whoever has you, is holding you. That whoever has taken you from me, is protecting you. That however [sic] has you, let’s you come back into my arms. I love you Oakland. I can’t wait to one day hold you again. My heart is broken. I am broken. To be clear, Oakland is alive, we think. But we don’t know. I have a one month old child, and I don’t know where she is.”
O’Toole later updated the post, and denied that his ex-wife was at fault.
“ATTN: my amazing ex wife Corrie has NOTHING to do with this. Please leave her alone,” he said.
O’Toole announced Oakland’s birth in late May by posting an adorable photo of her wearing a striped beanie while wrapped in a blanket.
“When you self isolate long enough, you get one of these as a door prize!! Meet Oakland Eleanor Sandra Newman-O’Toole,” O’Toole said at the time. “My brand new lil girl who has a million names, and all of my heart. In case it was ever in doubt, now officially NEVER forgetting 2020.”
He is also the father to daughters Ruby and Sydney.
