Everyone: Meet Olympia Lightning Bolt!
Tuesday on Instagram, Usain Bolt shared the first photos of his and longtime girlfriend Kasi Bennett’s daughter, who they welcomed in May.
While also celebrating Bennett’s 21st birthday, the sprinter posted pics from a photo shoot where the mom cradles her bundle of joy while the two are dressed in elaborate gowns.
“I want to wish my gf @kasi.b a happy birthday and To let u know I am happy I get to spend ur special day with u. I want nothing but happiness for u and will continue to doing my best keeping a smile on ur face,” the Olympic gold medalist wrote.
“Now we have started a new chapter together with our daughter Olympia Lightning Bolt I look forward to what the future will bring for us but be reassured that I will be the ROCK for this family. I Love you and happy 21th birthday,” he added.
Despite Olympia’s champion-like name, which appears to be in reference to her father’s media moniker of “Lighting Bolt,” Usain will not pressure his girl, or any future child, to follow in his footsteps.
“People always say, ‘Are you going to put your kids in sports?’” he told People during this year’s Super Bowl weekend. “But for me, if they want to be in sports, fine, I don’t really care. But I won’t push them to do track and field. I think it’s going to be hard.”
The athlete added, “I think it’s the hardest thing when you have a dad that is a superstar in a super sport; I don’t think you should do that sport. I think you should do something else because there is so much pressure on you to live up to expectations.”
Bolt holds the world record for the 100-meter dash, completing it in 9.58 seconds at the 2009 Berlin World Championships, and for the 200-meter dash, finishing it in 19.19 seconds, also in Berlin. Additionally, he is the only man to win three 100-meter Olympic titles.
The Jamaican superstar retired from his sport in 2017.
