The stars of “Glee” are asking for prayers after their co-star Naya Rivera went missing Wednesday following a boating trip in Ventura, California.
On Thursday, Heather Morris — who played Naya’s love interest on the hit musical comedy-drama television series — posted a heartbreaking Instagram Story asking fans for their “love and light” amid search efforts to locate Rivera.
“We need all the prayers we can get to bring our Naya back home to us,” Morris wrote Thursday morning. “We need your love and light.”
Harry Shum Jr., who played football player and dancer Mike Chang, tweeted out:

Chord Overstreet, who portrayed transfer student Sam Evans, wrote on his Twitter page:

Iqbal Theba, who took on the role of Principal Figgins, wrote on social media, “Oh God... mercy... please...”
Hours later, Theba wrote on Twitter that he hoped that the devastating news surrounding Naya is “all a big joke.”
I am hoping against hope... this was all a big joke and she’ll appear from somewhere laughing her heart out— iqbal theba (@iqbaltheba) July 9, 2020
Per TMZ, on Wednesday shortly before 5 p.m., authorities found Rivera’s 4-year-old son Josey Dorsey sleeping alone on a boat in Lake Piru. NBC Los Angeles added that the boy was wearing a life jacket, while an adult-sized life jacket, believed to be provided to Naya, was still on the boat.
On Thursday, Captain Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told reporters that Josey is “in good health” following the “traumatic” incident.
Buschow also confirmed to Us Weekly that Josey and Naya went swimming in the lake, but Rivera did not come back up.
“The son said they were in the water swimming together. He came up and got back up on the boat, but she did not. He was found on the boat by a passerby. He was found fast asleep on the boat by himself,” Buschow told the outlet.
Though officials conducted a search on Wednesday evening, and continued their efforts on Thursday, they say that Naya is presumed dead and that their search is now a recovery mission.
“Glee” ran for six seasons, from May 2009 to March 2015.
