Nicki Minaj is going to be a mom!
Monday on Instagram, the “Super Bass” rapper announced she is expecting her first child with husband Kenneth Petty by posting pictures from a number of her maternity photo shoots.
“Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes,” the MC captioned one of the photos, in which she proudly displays her baby bump.
According to an Us Weekly source on Monday, the 37-year-old musician “is over the moon” about her pregnancy.
“She has wanted to become a mother for a long, long time, and now her dream is finally coming true!” the insider added. “She feels so blessed to be pregnant and can’t wait to meet her mini-me.”
Of course, Nicki’s baby news isn’t entirely surprising.
In September 2019 on Twitter, the artist announced her decision “to retire & have my family.”
“I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it till da death of me,” she wrote at the time, adding, “Love you for LIFE.”
Since this post, however, Nicki has released the 2020 single “Yikes,” and has been featured on a number of collaborations, including the remix of Doja Cat’s “Say So.”
This May, Nicki told fans that she has been having “cravings,” has been feeling nauseous, and has been “peeing nonstop.”
When a fan directly asked her to post a baby bump pic, she responded, “Yea in a couple months. The world ain’t ready yet.”

In October 2019, Nicki married Kenneth, who in April 1995, was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. He served almost four years in state prison for the crime and was required to register as a sex offender in New York.
This March, Kenneth registered as a sex offender in California after he was arrested for failing to do so.
Nicki has previously defended her husband’s 1995 conviction, writing on social media in December 2018, “he was 15, she was 16 ... in a relationship… But go awf, internet, y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life.”
That same month, Bossip reported that fans believe Kenneth is the father of five children.
