L.A. Police Draw Weapons on Black Teens Who Were Alleged Victims of Attack

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department are under fire for pointing weapons at a group of young men who were the alleged victims of an attack.

Over the weekend on Instagram, Tammi Collins, the mother of one of the young men, posted a shocking video showing Santa Clarita cops pointing guns at and then arresting the group, who TMZ characterized as “three Black teens.”

According to Collins, her son and his friends were sitting at a bus stop on their way home when a “homeless guy” allegedly “approached them and first asked them if they had any crack then tried to take their things.”

The man then allegedly got aggressive when he took off his shirt and “pulled out a knife” and “tried to stab them.”

Collins says the young men held out their skateboards as a shield against the alleged attack.

While several witnesses — including a manager at a local Buffalo Wild Wings — called the police to help the young men, a different caller allegedly “reported [that] two black guys are attacking a homeless guy.”

As depicted in the video, police arrive at the scene, draw their guns on the young men (who have their hands up), and detain them.

While a witness tries to tell authorities that the young men were actually the victims, one of the cops tells bystanders that he and his unit are on a “different call” responding to an incident “where someone was hit by a skateboard.”

“This is something my son and his friends will never forget,” Collins wrote. “I’m still wonder how will I ever help my son recover from this traumatic experience. Please pray for my family. Please Share to protect our kids!!!”

I wanted to share what happened to my son yesterday in SCV when he was with a couple of friends sitting at a bus stop headed home. He was attacked by a gentleman (homeless guy) who approached them and first asked them if they had any crack then tried to take their things. The guy became so aggressive that he took his shirt off pulled out a knife and whip them tried to stabbed them. His friends only had their skate boards to cover them from the knife and whip so they held it out to keep distance from this guy. Several bystanders including the restaurant manager of Buffalo Wild wings called the police to get help for the boys but “One” caller called the police and reported two black guys are attacking a homeless guy. This is how the police responded. This is something my son and his friends will never forget. I’m still wonder how will I ever help my son recover from this traumatic experience. Please pray for my family. Please Share to protect our kids!!!

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to TMZ that police were responding to a 911 call regarding two adult males hitting another man with a skateboard.

However, after authorities spoke to the young men as well as witnesses, Collins' son and his friends were not arrested, and were released.

Officials say they do not know what happened to the homeless man, who was not seen in the video.
