Welcome to the world, Rue Rose Shumpert!
Monday on Instagram, Iman Shumpert confirmed that wife Teyana Taylor gave birth to the couple’s second daughter early Sunday — just one day after Teyana’s baby shower.
Just like the birth of eldest daughter Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., now 4, Teyana delivered baby Rue in the family’s bathroom.
“At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 Rue Rose 🌹 decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!!” Iman captioned an adorable video of his bundle of joy.
“Now...when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy... but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital!” he continued. “Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins....again. Welcome babygirl...we love you!”
Though only a few days old, Rue already has an Instagram account, and the first post features the cute tot adorably wrapped up in a blanket.
“Hello hello hey hello hello,” the video was captioned.
On Monday, singer Erykah Badu, who also works as a doula, confirmed that she assisted in Rue’s birth.
“They did that,” Erykah wrote on her page. “Thank you both for allowing me to assist. Love, proud Badoula- aka ‘The welcoming Committee’ Shine Rue!!”
Teyana previously announced her second pregnancy in the June music video for her song “Wake Up Love.”
“We’re ready, and we’re very excited,” Teyana told People at the time. “Iman is super excited. Junie is ecstatic — I’m talking super ecstatic. Everybody is just excited. I can’t wait. I’ve got three more months left until we meet our little princess."
Later that month, Teyana told Nick Cannon on his Power 106 Los Angeles radio show that she wanted Erykah’s help with delivering her second baby.
“Her and Iman are going to deliver my baby. I’m super excited. Imma have her just sing her verse from ‘Lowkey’ to me to calm my nerves,” Teyana said, referencing their 2020 collaboration.
Congratulations to Iman and Teyana on their new addition!
