Oprah didn’t give away a new car… but she did surprise a Texan who is voting early in the November election!
Monday on Instagram, the former host of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” cold-called a man named Christian as a volunteer for Beto O’Rourke’s voter initiative Powered by People.
“Since I can’t go knocking on people’s doors this election, I spent today talking with @betoorourke and calling Texas voters to make sure they have a voting plan,” the media mogul wrote on her page.
In the adorable clip, Christian is initially skeptical that he is talking to the one and only Oprah.
“Hi Christian. This is Oprah Winfrey. It really is Oprah Winfrey,” she began the call.
“I just want to confirm this is Oprah?” Christian questioned.
“This is Oprah... Winfrey,” she replied.
After explaining that early voting in Texas begins Tuesday, October 13, the chairwoman and CEO of Harpo Productions then asks Christian, on a scale from 0 to 10, how likely he is to vote.
Not only does Christian say he is an 11, but he also plans to head to his local voting place the next day at 8 a.m.
“Hey, you’re my first call and you’re already an 11! I don’t know what to say about that! That’s fantastic!” Oprah exclaimed before calling Christian a “model citizen.”
Per Powered by People’s website, the organization has “made over 6 million calls and sent over 40 million individual texts to voters across Texas.”
“We’re reaching out to all corners of the state, encouraging folks to register to vote, and talking to current registered voters in rural, suburban, and urban Texas,” the statement read.
