Niecy Nash Doesn’t Care If She Loses Fans Because of Her Sexuality

Niecy Nash remains “happily married” to wife Jessica Betts.

On Monday, IG account @theneighborhoodtalk posted a screenshot where the “Reno 911!” actress responds to a fan who asks whether she has lost fans after announcing her marriage.

In August, the Emmy nominee, born Carol Denise Ensley, broke the news that she and the singer tied the knot in a beautiful California ceremony.

“If I lost a fan because of who I love then that wasn’t a real fan,” Nash responded on Instagram. “Who/how I love has nothing to do with my art. I’m still a skilled, Emmy nominated award winning actress. I didn’t stop being great at my craft because of where I lay my head. Soooo idk?

“All I know is I’m happy and my projects are lit,” she continued. “Can’t wait for those who never stopped riding to see! Matter of fact the haters can stay tuned as well. #happily married.”

In a candid September interview with People, Nash explained that her marriage was not her “coming out” moment.

“I don’t feel like my marriage is my coming out of anywhere, but rather a going into myself and being honest about who I love,” she told the outlet. “And I’m not limiting myself on what that love is supposed to look like.”

“[My marriage] has absolutely nothing to do with gender and it has everything to do with her soul,” she said about Betts. “She is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life.

“I was not suppressing my sexuality my whole life,” she continued. “I love who I love. At one point in my life, I married twice and I love those people. And today I love this person. I’ve done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I’ve always been. It’s a matter of who I am in this moment.”

Nash was previously married to ordained minister Don Nash and electrical engineer Jay Tucker.
