Donnie Wahlberg Leaves $2,020 Tip at Massachusetts Restaurant

Though it’s weeks until Christmas, Donnie Wahlberg is very much in the giving spirit!

This week on Instagram, Massachusetts restaurant chain Marshland revealed that the “Blue Bloods” star tipped server Denise Andrews $2,020 on a $35.27 bill when he dined Saturday at their Plymouth location.

“A very special thank you to our friend @donniewahlberg! When asked about it all he said was, ‘Who’s up next?!’” the restaurant wrote.

On the receipt, the New Kids on the Block group member wrote “#2020TipChallenge,” in reference to a tipping trend that started January 2020 in Michigan when a server at Thunder Bay River Restaurant received a $2,020 tip on a $23 bill.

On Thursday, Marshland restaurant owner Marty Finch spoke to People about Donnie’s generosity.

“Donnie has been here before in the past and he always asks for [Denise],” Marty told the outlet. “He had his normal order: steak tips with some grilled asparagus and some poached eggs. She always knows what he wants.”

Though Denise knows Donnie’s order by heart, she did not know that he would leave such massive gratuity!

“When he left he just said, ‘Denise, you’re all set. The payment is on the table,’” Marty recalled. “She always says he’s a very good tipper anyway but her jaw dropped, to say the least, when she saw that amount of tip.”

Being the team player that Denise is, Marty said the outstanding employee split the money with her fellow co-workers.

“Denise was very generous. She tipped out her fellow waitstaff and the guys in the kitchen, and she actually donated too,” he said. “She’s working on getting two families turkey meals during the holidays, so she’s generous herself. Donnie said to pass it on, to keep this positive stuff going, so she’s trying to do that as well.”

Of course, this is not the first time the singer/actor has participated in the #2020TipChallenge.

On January 2 of this year, Donnie and wife Jenny McCarthy left a $2,020 tip at an IHOP in St. Charles, Illinois.

In 2017, he gave a $2,000 tip, as well as concert tickets and backstage passes to NKOTB’s Total Package Tour, to the waitstaff at a Waffle House in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Donnie continues to spread the holiday cheer!
