The Banks family is back, Real Fam!
Friday on Instagram, series star Will Smith posted the highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” reunion — set to drop November 19 on HBO Max.
In the emotional clip, Smith and his former castmates — including Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey Butler), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Vivian Banks), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), and DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz) — reminisce about the 30-year-old show in the living room of the iconic Bel-Air mansion.
“These are the people who made me the man I am today,” Smith captioned the clip. “And I couldn’t let this day go by without marking the occasion.”
The reunion also pays tribute to James Avery (Uncle Phil), who sadly passed away in December 2013 following complications from open-heart surgery.
“James is the heart of the show,” Ali said in the trailer.
“James Avery was this 6-foot-4, Shakespearian beast and I wanted him to think I was good,” Smith added.
The trailer also teases Smith’s sit-down with Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Vivian until she was replaced by Reid in 1993.
Since her departure from the hit sitcom, Hubert has gone on record accusing Smith of getting her fired.
Based on a photo that Smith posted in September, it appears he and Hubert have quashed their beef.
Earlier that month, Smith’s co-founded company Westbrook Media announced the reunion, which, per a press release, will make for a “funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests.”
Showrunner Rikki Hughes served as executive producer alongside Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser, and Brad Haugen for Westbrook Media.
“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” debuted in September 1990 and ran for six seasons until May 1996.
