Yet another reason why we love Popeyes!
On Monday, the popular fast-food chain announced they are adding chocolate beignets to their menus nationwide.
The deep-fried pastries, which are stuffed with melted Hershey’s chocolate and doused in powdered sugar, will be available while supplies last. The sweet treats come in three-, six-, and 12-packs for $1.99, $3.99, and $7.49, respectively.
Earlier this year, the company debuted the item at a handful of locations, and it received “particularly strong” reviews — according to Sami Siddiqui, the chain’s president of the Americas.
Despite this, Siddiqui does not believe the limited-edition desserts will surpass the success of its chicken sandwich, which sparked a social media frenzy last summer.
“I’ve been in [the fast-food industry] for almost a decade now, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like the chicken sandwich across any brand, so I don’t know if I want to set expectations that high,” Siddiqui told CNBC.
Additionally, Popeyes is releasing a line of $35 black hoodies, called “Beignet Camo,” which are designed with white splotches to resemble powdered sugar.
Beignets are famously sold in New Orleans, where Popeyes was founded. The company is currently headquartered in Miami, Florida.
