Bob Read, the managing editor and senior investigative producer for “Inside Edition,” has passed away at age 60 from COVID-19.
On Monday, the syndicated newsmagazine announced that its beloved staff member, who worked on the program for 30 years, passed away over the weekend after being diagnosed with the coronavirus last month.
“If there was a story on Inside Edition that made headlines, it had Bob Read’s fingerprints all over it,” the show said. “A beloved colleague and devoted family man, Bob was diagnosed with COVID-19 last month and tragically passed away over the weekend. He had just turned 60.”
In their tribute, the long-running series remembers Read as a “first-class journalist” who “was a mentor and dear friend to so many of us at ‘Inside Edition.’”
According to Deadline, Read began his journalism career at ABC News “20/20,” where he produced news, features, and investigative reports during his eight-year tenure.
The outlet also says he worked at “Dateline NBC,” where he produced investigative reports.
The Long Island, New York, native is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michele, son Tyler, and daughter Casey.
To honor his legacy, Read’s family has established the Robert B. Read Memorial Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to families impacted by the coronavirus.
Our condolences go out to Bob’s loved ones and colleagues for their loss.
