A woman was accidentally pushed to her death as she was trying to take a selfie near a river in India.

According to India Today, the incident took place on January 3 near Kanakund, a popular picnic spot in the Sundargarh district of Odisha.

As seen in a disturbing social media video, the woman, identified as Nirupama Prajapati, was seen standing on a stone in the riverbed trying to take pictures of herself.

A man in a white shirt appears to move behind her but loses his balance and falls down.

Unfortunately, in the process, the man accidentally pushes the woman into the river as she screams.

The woman is seen being swept away by the fast-flowing rapids of the river.

Per India Today, the fire department and her family searched the water for 22 hours until they eventually found her body in a stone crevice, almost 500 yards from where she fell.

The outlet also reports that the woman had previously gone to the spot to enjoy picnics with her friends.

Our condolences go out to Nirupama’s family and loved ones for their loss.
