Harry Brant, the younger son of supermodel Stephanie Seymour and billionaire industrialist Peter M. Brant, has passed away at age 24.
Per the New York Times, Harry’s family said the socialite — famous for attending fashion shows, events, and parties — died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. They say he had struggled with addiction for several years.
“We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease,” his family said in a statement. “He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done.
“Harry was not just our son,” they continued. “He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend. He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out.”
Born in 1996, Harry and his older brother, Peter Brant II, made a name for themselves in the New York social scene for their extravagant fashion and demeanor.
In 2012, Refinery29 referred to them as “NYC’s Most Beautiful Teenage Brothers.”
In addition to writing for his father’s Interview magazine, Harry also modeled for brands such as Balmain, and, with his brother, founded a unisex makeup line with MAC.
“I first started to play with makeup by definitely going into mom’s and I started stealing her products because makeup is really expensive and I didn’t really have access to it when I was younger,” Harry told W magazine in 2016 ahead of the collaboration.
“People are starting to be more celebrated for their creativity. And I really think that once you leave high school, you realize that being normal is something that people want to shy away from, and the more true you are to yourself and the more individual you are, the more people are inherently attracted to you,” he added.
That same year, Harry was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and drug possession after allegedly refusing to pay cab fare.
In addition to Peter, Harry is survived by his younger sister Lilly Margaret, as well as older half-brother Dylan Thomas Andrews. He also shared four half siblings from his father’s previous marriage to Sandra Brant.
Per his parents, Harry had planned to enter rehab this year, and had hoped to return to Interview magazine.
He will be missed.
